Sustainability
at Custom Fleet

We’re deeply committed to Driving a Regenerative Future —for te taiao (the environment), our people, our business, and our customers. That means driving sustainable innovation, reducing our emissions, fostering fair opportunities, and supporting the communities we’re connected to. Sustainability isn’t something we do on the side—it’s woven into our kaupapa and shapes how we move forward.

Sustainability strategy: 2025-2030

In 2025, we launched our sustainability strategy to help us make positive impact in the areas that matter most to our stakeholders.

Meeting ambition with action, we’ve identified a number of 2030 targets that will enable us to track our progress.

These are designed to address priority areas across Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG), where we can create meaningful and lasting change.

Planet

Electrifying our own fleet

We’re starting with ourselves. Our entire internal fleet in New Zealand and Australia is now electric—an important step in reducing our Scope 1 emissions.

It also means we bring first-hand EV experience to the customers we support.

Science Based Targets

We’re part of Element Fleet Management’s validated Science-based Targets initiative (SBTi) committing to:

  • Reducing our absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 63.70% by 2034 from a 2019 base year
  • Reduce Scope 3 emissions from leased assets and sold products by 66.4% per USD value added by 2034.

Reforest partnership

In 2025, we began working with Reforest, a social enterprise helping organisations take climate-positive action through local tree planting projects across Aotearoa.

Why trees?

Our view is that decarbonisation is the most effective method of reducing our environmental impact, and that efforts to remove carbon do not compensate for our emissions.

However, trees also play a vital role—they absorb carbon, restore ecosystems, support biodiversity, and create habitats. This partnership is about more than planting trees; it’s about helping regenerate te taiao (the natural environment) for future generations.

People and communities

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging

Our industry leading Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) Strategy explains our ongoing commitment to remaining an inclusive place for people to work.

Fostering an inclusive culture is critical to ensure all employees feel welcome, safe, and engaged at work.

Our DEIB strategy strengthens our employee value proposition as we continue to work towards being a top employer of choice for diverse talent.

We are committed to fostering a workplace where everyone feels they can bring their whole selves to work. Our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) approach reflects our ongoing dedication to creating an environment where all kaimahi (employees) feel valued, safe, and connected.

Building a truly inclusive culture strengthens our ability to attract and retain diverse talent, helping us continue to be an employer of choice across Aotearoa.

Intersection – our diversity network Diversity network

Intersection is our internal network that champions awareness, learning, and celebration of all aspects of DEIB.

Each stream within Intersection leads initiatives designed to strengthen our inclusive culture, such as:

  • Delivery of our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander inclusion
  • Achieving the Australian Workplace Equality Index Awards Gold Status for LGBTQI+ inclusion
  • Achieving the WGEA Employer of Choice for Gender Equality Citation for gender equality

Our people are encouraged to join one or more of these workstreams and help drive positive change within our business.

For many, it’s a kaupapa (purpose) they are deeply passionate about—something reflected by the active involvement of our senior leadership team.

Community engagement through Custom Cares Custom cares

Our sense of kaitiakitanga (guardianship) extends beyond our workplace.

Through our volunteer programme, Custom Cares, we focus on supporting those in our hapori (community) who need it most. This includes:

  1. Minority groups
  2. People with disabilities
  3. Women and tamariki (children)
  4. Te taiao (the environment)

We partner with organisations such as The Salvation Army, Brotherhood of St Laurence, The Cancer Council, Killara Foundation, First Nations groups, and the Middlemore Foundation.

We’ll continue to seek meaningful ways to contribute and make a lasting impact.

By partnering with Supply Nation in Australia and Amotai in New Zealand, we connect with verified Māori, Pasifika, and other Indigenous-owned businesses—helping create opportunities and level the playing field for those historically underrepresented.
